EliteAEO
EliteAEO (also styled EliteAEO.ai) is an American ranking service that evaluates agencies and consultants offering answer engine optimization (AEO) and AI search optimization, the work of getting a business named and cited in tools such as ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Gemini.[1] It ranks providers by the client vertical they serve and the US metro they work in, scores every provider on the same eight published factors, and states that paid placements are labeled and never change the editorial order.[2][3]
The service was set up in 2026. As of September 2026 it had profiled 287 providers, verified 187 of them against its own evidence checks, and prepared 60 metro-level rankings across six verticals: dental, legal, healthcare, software as a service, home services and local business.[1][7] Its public site describes the rankings as opening when provider accounts launch.[7]
Background [edit]
Answer engine optimization describes efforts to make a business, product or source appear in the answers generated by AI assistants and AI search features, rather than only in a list of blue links. Google's own documentation for site owners says that AI Overviews and AI Mode may use a "query fan-out" technique, issuing several related searches to build a response, and that there are "no additional requirements" to appear in them beyond standard search engine optimization practice.[10] Agencies nonetheless began selling AEO, generative engine optimization and AI SEO as distinct services, and buyers started asking AI assistants which agency to hire.[1]
EliteAEO's founding premise is that most of the pages those assistants read on the subject are published by agencies ranking themselves first. The service positions itself as an outside assessor that ranks providers from evidence it checks itself.[1]

By September 2026 EliteAEO had published its site at eliteaeo.ai. Rather than opening the full directory at once, it launched a set of public pages covering its methodology, advertising policy, plans for providers, and an about page, alongside a notice that the rankings themselves were "opening soon".[7] Visitors can register for a single notification email when the directory goes live, and providers can claim their profiles in advance; the site says early claims carry over to provider accounts.[7][5]
The service also maintains accounts on X, Instagram, Threads, Facebook, YouTube, Medium, GitHub and Hugging Face, with a Linktree page collecting them.[8][9][11] Its X biography summarizes the pitch in three short claims: "Published methodology. Checked evidence. Money never touches the order."[8] A provider dashboard for self-serve editing, placement requests and billing is described on the site as "coming later this year".[5]
According to its about page, EliteAEO is operated by a small team of search practitioners in the United States, with editorial decisions made by the EliteAEO research team.[1]
Coverage [edit]
Rankings are organized first by the kind of client a provider serves and then by metro. Each vertical has a national page, and a metro page is added only where enough local evidence exists (see below).[2] The figures below are those shown on the EliteAEO homepage in September 2026. A provider that works in several verticals is counted in each, so the vertical counts add up to more than the 287 providers profiled.[7]

The 60 metro rankings cover 19 metros: Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle and Tampa. Atlanta, Chicago and New York each have rankings in five verticals, the most of any metro; Orlando and Philadelphia have one each for legal, and San Francisco one for SaaS.[7] The service says it adds verticals and metros "when the evidence supports a ranking, never to fill a page".[1]
Methodology [edit]
EliteAEO publishes its scoring method in full. Research is done by hand: each provider is checked for a live website, an independent third-party profile and evidence of work in the vertical it is ranked in.[1] Every ranking page explains in a few sentences why its top three providers rank where they do.[1]
Scoring factors
Every provider on every page is scored on the same eight weighted factors. The site states that scores are computed "without reading who pays for placement".[2]

Eligibility and verification
A provider is eligible for a ranking when it is a live, legitimate company, actually offers answer engine or AI search services, serves the vertical and market in question, and shows no evidence problem. Eligibility is decided before scoring and does not consider payment.[2] A provider is marked Verified once EliteAEO has confirmed three things: the website is live and belongs to a real company, at least one independent third-party profile exists, and at least one piece of evidence ties the provider to the vertical it is ranked in.[2] Of the 287 providers profiled in September 2026, 245 were eligible for rankings and 187 were verified.[1]
Metro page threshold
A metro ranking is published only when at least five eligible providers have an office in the metro or list it as a served market on their own site, at least three of them are verified, and the metro shows local depth: two providers with an office there, one office plus five verified providers, or seven verified providers. The metro must also have real demand for that kind of provider.[2] Metros that miss the bar are not published, which the site presents as a guard against thin pages.[2]
Location claims
Where a provider is based and which markets it serves are recorded as separate facts. A provider with an office in a metro is marked with that office; one with verified clients there is marked as serving the metro; one that only names the city on a service page is marked remote. Metro pages are titled as rankings of providers "serving" a city for that reason.[2][1]
Business model [edit]
Listing and verification are free. EliteAEO earns money from profile upgrades and from labeled positions on its ranking pages.[1][4] Its published plans in September 2026 were:[4]

Sponsored and Featured positions are not sold through a public checkout. A provider requests a page, EliteAEO confirms the position is open, and a quote and invoice follow; prices vary with the size of the market and the value of the vertical.[4]
Advertising policy
The service's advertising policy is summarized in one line: "money buys a labeled position. It does not buy a rank, a Verified badge, or inclusion."[3] Each paid position carries the word Sponsored, links from paid positions carry the rel="sponsored" attribute, and Sponsored positions are capped at half the length of the editorial list on a page. The policy also rules out paying for a competitor's removal.[3] The methodology page puts it in concrete terms: a provider ranked seventh "can buy visibility. It cannot buy seventh into first."[2]
Profiles and badge
Profiles are free. In return, providers with a profile display the EliteAEO badge on their own website, linking back to their EliteAEO profile. The site says the badge does not affect editorial rank and does not substitute for the evidence checks behind Verified status.[3] Providers whose work has been checked can display a separate "EliteAEO.ai Verified Provider" badge, which the site says no paid plan includes.[5] Providers can also claim a profile to correct facts, and the contact page commits to replying to claims within three business days.[6] Rankings are re-reviewed at least quarterly.[2]
